The NCS Grammar Schools are kindergarten through 6th grade. Currently NCS has two Grammar school locations in Hutton Valley, MO (part of the Willow Springs area) and Forest Dell, MO (near Mountain View). It is our goal to expand into local communities as our need for more Grammar schools grow. Our school meets four days a week, Monday through Thursday. Kindergarteners attend mornings only.

The one-room schoolhouse was once a staple of American education. While rarely seen today, this model is still celebrated for the simplicity and quality of its educational form.

Neighborhood Christian Schools draws on this rich heritage with a one-room style grammar school. A one-room model keeps school simple and overhead costs low while also providing well-attested educational benefits. 

Classical education fits very nicely with a one-room model. The emphasis on memorization and repetition at the Grammar stage means younger students are confronted daily with a preview of future information as they hear older students recite memory work. Older students get a review of previous material through the same “eavesdropping” method. This first stage of classical education satisfies the child’s natural curiosity and sponge-like capacity through memorization of the essential facts and vocabulary of each subject.
